Wander through the region of Hermanus

Drive two hours east from Cape Town to reach the coastal town of Hermanus, which is known as one of the best places in the world to see whales, particularly between June and November.

Set off on a walking tour of the different observation points to spot these marine mammals from afar. For a closer look at the whales, take a boat cruise into Walker Bay. Humpback whales come to the bay to reproduce and give birth in the warm waters of the Cape Town region. You can also see the whales and other marine animals, including dolphins, during kayaking excursions.

Don't miss the Hermanus Whale Festival, which is held each year in the town of Hermanus over a weekend between late September and early October.
