Admire the terraced landscapes of Mu Cang Chai

NatureVietnam

Discover unique landscapes in the Mu Cang Chai district, a mountainous region of Vietnam where rice terraces span as far as the eye can see. The panoramas of the Tu Le Valley are arguably the most beautiful of these vistas. As you walk among the fields, watch as the sun plays hide-and-seek behind the hills, lending various shades to the terraces, depending on the time of day and the season.

For a panoramic view of the rice paddies, we recommend climbing Khau Pha Pass, one of Vietnam's four main passes. On the winding road that leads you to the top of this mountain, you can spot the terraced fields and little hillside houses of the Hmong farmers.

Our agencies can organize meetings with local communities for you to learn about traditional rice farming methods, as well as the beliefs and rituals associated with this ancestral knowledge.
