I ended up in Bagdogra a bit by accident, as I had to catch a plane, and I have no regrets whatsoever.
The few days that I spent in Bagdogra were really enjoyable, not least because the town isn't touristy. What's more, rickshaw drivers had always asked me if I wanted to go to Darjeeling. I felt like I was immersed in the real India. I loved getting lost in its little streets, which all seemed to house a little temple. Being the end of May, it was hot and humid, so I frequently took refuge in tea shops, where I could sit down and watch the world go by.
During my <a href="/india/">holiday in India</a> , I found Bagdogra to be a relaxing place, despite the inevitable traffic. But as soon as you're off the main road, you'll find some calm. There isn't a lot to do tourist-wise in town, but that actually made me enjoy it even more.
